Luhrs Center adds Chicks With Hits, Tommy James and Blood, Sweat & Tears
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — Three new shows for 2019 have been announced at H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center on the campus of Shippensburg University. Tickets for these shows are now on sale.
• Tommy James and the Shondells and The Buckinghams will appear at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19. “Crystal Blue Persuasion,” “I Think We’re Alone Now,” “Hanky Panky,” “Crimson & Clover,” “Draggin’ The Line,” “Mony, Mony,” and “Sweet Cherry Wine,” are some of the hits from Tommy James. With 23 gold records, nine platinum albums and more than 100 million records sold worldwide, in addition to his 32 Billboard Hot 100 charting hits, many have been covered by other artists. One of the most beloved and respected Chicago bands ever to explode onto the national scene, The Buckinghams’ live concerts pack power into ‘60s pop rock. Their chart-topping ‘60s hits include “Kind of a Drag.” Tickets cost $55 to $75.
• The Chicks with Hits Tour: Terri Clark, Pam Tillis and Suzy Bogguss at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8. With more than five million albums sold, international tours, Terri Clark is known for singles such as “Better Things To Do,” “Poor, Poor Pitiful Me,” and “I Just Wanna Be Mad.” Having six No. 1 records and 14 top ten singles, Pam Tillis’ hits include “Maybe It Was Memphis,” “Mi Vida Loca,” “Spilled Perfume,” “Don’t Tell Me What To Do,” “Let That Pony Run,” and more. During the creative explosion in country music during the 1990’s, Suzy Bogguss sold 4 million records with radio hits like “Outbound Plane,” “Someday Soon,” “Letting Go,” “Hey Cinderella,” and “Drive South.” Tickets cost $45 to $65.
• Blood, Sweat & Tears and War perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 15. It’s been five decades since drummer/producer Bobby Colomby and friends assembled Blood, Sweat & Tears, the first group to successfully blend rock and jazz into a genre-crossing sound and style. They’re known for hits like “Spinning Wheel,” “And When I Die,” “You Made Me So Very Happy,” “Lucretia Mac Evil” and more. War was brought together by veteran record producer Jerry Goldstein and rock legend Eric Burdon (ex-lead singer of The Animals). Today, the band continues to tour and bring people together with their soulful hits “Spill The Wine,” “Me and Baby Brother,” “Low Rider,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends?,” “Summer,” “Cisco Kid,” and more. Tickets cost $59 to $79.
