Mainstreet Waynesboro presents 14th annual Chocolate Extravaganza

WAYNESBORO, Pa. — The “sweetest night of the year” returns on Saturday, March 7, as Mainstreet Waynesboro plays host to the Chocolate Extravaganza at the Waynesboro Country Club.

Staff members and volunteers are in the process of planning this year’s event. The Chocolate Extravaganza, now in its 14th year, will offer a dinner option, a four-course, chocolate-themed dinner from 5 to 7 p.m., with the Chocolate Extravaganza following the dinner from 7 to 9 p.m.

The event was created to raise money for Mainstreet Waynesboro, while showcasing our two downtown chocolate stores and other restaurants.

Mainstreet Waynesboro is an independent nonprofit that runs solely on donations and money made through events and our fundraisers.

Waynesboro Country Club Chef Jeffrey Raimo created the menu for the four-course dinner which includes:

Maple Bacon Crack with chocolate fruit compote, paired with a WCC chocolate martini;

Chocolate Stout Chili, pickled red onion, chocolate drizzled jalapeno, cheddar, tortilla strips, paired with Milkman’s Baby, a Chocolate Porter loaded with lactose and big chocolate flavor from cocoa nibs and powder courtesy of Zoe’s Chocolate Co. and created by Rough Edges Brewing;

Pomi salad, mixed greens, pear, chocolate pomegranate arils, pecan, goat cheese, white balsamic vinaigrette, paired with Barefoot Riesling;

Entrée of beef tenderloin, pepper crusted, chocolate, rosemary port saucepans, chilled green bean and potato salad, paired with Carlos Serres Rioja Crianza.

For dessert, diners can enjoy all the treats at the Chocolate Extravaganza.

Each table of eight will also have a carafe of House Red wine.

Ten chocolate purveyors will have their chocolate delicacies set up at the event from 7 to 9 p.m. The confirmed list includes Antojitos Mexicanos, Bonnie Butter Bakes at Happy Heart Farm, Christine’s Café, Despina Leos Candy Kitchen, Krystal’s Cakes and Confections, Rough Edges Brewing, Sweet Layali’s Treats, the Waynesboro Country Club, the Waynesburger and Zoe’s Chocolates.
