The Andy Warhol Museum

Located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the place of Andy Warhol’s birth, The Andy Warhol Museum holds the largest collection of Warhol’s artworks and archival materials. It is one of the most comprehensive single-artist museums in the world and the largest in North America. The Warhol holds the largest collection of Warhol’s artworks and archival materials. Paintings, drawings, commercial illustrations, sculptures, prints, photographs, wallpapers, sketchbooks, and books cover the entire range of Warhol’s career, from his early student work to pop art paintings and collaborations. The Mattress Factory is not your typical museum. You won't find any cavernous white galleries or imposing security guards. In fact, some of the spaces might feel more like a home than a museum! That's because installations are artworks that are site-specific and designed to transform the perception of a space. All of the works at the Mattress Factory are conceived in the space you view them. Experiencing installation art is a little different than viewing a painting or sculpture. We mean it when we say this is "art you can get into." We will tour both museums and have lunch at the Mattress Factory Café, one of the best kept secrets in the neighborhood.  Event Cost $129; $115 for members. Trip includes transportation, admission to both museums, and lunch. Email krice@shepherd.edu
